College & Career
School counselors working at Waubonsie Valley play a critical role in ensuring students have the academic development, knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to be successful. School counselors can assist schools in providing an environment conducive to and supportive of academic success for all students.
Social & Emotional
School counselors are committed to supporting students’ social/emotional needs. As advocates for students, school counselors promote a positive environment that enhances students’ ability to properly manage the social/emotional demands of their lives. School counselors use appropriate appraisal methods to promote a school environment designed to propel students toward positive mindsets and behaviors supporting social/emotional development through direct and indirect services.
School counseling has seen many changes to initiatives in college planning & career development. It is our goal as department to ensure that each of our students has a plan for continued education after graduation that will lead them to meaningful employment. We aim to help students answer the following questions: What is something I am good at? What is something I love to do?
House Staff & Partners
The Counseling Department works collaboratively with the other members of the House System at Waubonsie Valley to meet the needs of our students. This includes: social workers, deans, psychologist, school administrators and secretaries.
The counselors at Waubonsie Valley realize that our students aren't one dimensional. What they do at home, in the classroom and after school all contribute to who our students are. For that reason we offer services covering academics, career planning, college readiness and social emotional learning.
