The Waubonsie Valley Counseling Department Believes...

"Our mission is to foster students’ learning to its highest potential while providing diverse and challenging educational experiences that academically, socially, and emotionally shape our students into independent and productive members of society."

Academics

College & Career

The counseling department at Waubonsie Valley plays a critical role in ensuring students have the academic development, knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to be successful. Our staff assists our schools by providing an environment conducive to and supportive of academic success for all students.

Social & Emotional

The counseling department is committed to supporting students’ social/emotional needs. As advocates for students, our staff promote a positive environment that enhances students’ ability to properly manage the social/emotional demands of their lives. Our staff use appropriate appraisal methods to promote a school environment designed to propel students toward positive mindsets and behaviors supporting social/emotional development through direct  and indirect services.
It is our goal as a department to ensure that each of our students has a plan for continued education after graduation that will lead them to meaningful employment. We aim to help students answer the following questions: What is something I am good at? What is something I love to do?

House Staff & Partners

The Counseling Department works collaboratively with the other members of the House System at Waubonsie Valley to meet the needs of our students. School counselors, social workers, deans, psychologists, school administrators and secretaries all work together to ensure each student has the best opportunity for success while at Waubonsie.
The counseling department at Waubonsie Valley realize that our students aren't one dimensional. What they do at home, in the classroom and after school all contribute to who our students are. For that reason we offer services covering academics, career planning, college readiness and social-emotional development.
